L’Aquila is the capital of the state of Abruzzi in Italy. It is 58 miles East of Rome and is easily accesible by a one hour bus ride for 8 Euros. It is also one hour away from Pescara, another beautiful city on the Adriatic Sea.

My family’s town is located in the center of Italy. It is about three hours south of Florence and about three hours north of Naples. My grandparents and father built two magnificent homes. My Grandparent’s Farmhouse
At my grandparent’s villa you will need a car or taxi for food, shopping, and to access the center of town. The villa also has magnificent views of the Alpine Mountains and the Gran Sasso, the heighest moutain in that mountain range. During World War II, Mussolini was held prisoner at the top of the Gran Sasso. He was rescued by the Germans in a daring assault of the fortress, and was flown to safety..
